Osteocalcin, also named bone Gla protein (BGP) is a Ca-binding protein found in the bone organic matrix, dentin, and possibly in other mineralized tissues. It appears to be a highly specific osteoblastic marker produced during bone formation. It can easily be determined in serum by radioimmunoassay. Osteocalcin fragments can be used for antibody production.
